The foliage of glossy dark green leaves is evergreen and makes a wonderful backdrop for foundation plantings or as an espalier. It looks great in a feature pot and also makes a wonderful hedge or espalier against a wall. Camellia early pearly is a fast growing upright shrub with small dark green foliage and an abundance of large pearly white informal double blooms with the outer petals showing a blush of pink.The stamens are exposed as each flower ages. Feed with an acid fertiliser after flowering and again during the growing season. Camellia early pearly prefers a partially shaded position in well draining acidic soil.
The blooms are produced over a fairly long period in early to mid season in such profusion that this exquisite camellia always creates a gorgeous sight when in full bloom. This is a camellia that lends itself to be used as an espalier this makes it well suited to smaller spaces and courtyards. Ideal for screens hedging large containers and espaliers.
